    Visitors and Families

    Visitors and families with children are always welcome to enjoy the fun at our Meetings and especially on our Field Trips!

    General Meetings

    General Meetings are the third Wednesday of the month at 7:00 P.M. in the College of Idaho - Boone Science Building in Room 103. Take Interstate I-84 towards Caldwell, take Exit 29, turn south towards Caldwell, follow Franklin Road which turns into N 21st Ave. At Blaine Street, take a right, go one block and turn left on S. 20th Avenue. Go straight for 4 blocks and then turn left at Fillmore St. The building at the end of the parking lot will be Boone Science Building, enter on the west side of the building and head straight down the hall, and about half way down the hall will be room 103 on the left side.     Field Trips

    Field trips are the Saturday following the general Meetings of March thru November.

    More information will be available at the general meetings or by contacting us via the form on the contact page.

    Board Meetings

    Board Meetings are held on the last Monday of the month. Contact us using the form on the contact page for more information.

Membership

    Benefits of Membership

    4. Receive the "Northwest Newsletter", the Northwest Federation newsletter giving information about the on goings of the Federation to things like multi-federation Field Trips and Shows coming up in the immediate future.

    Couples - $18.00 per year

    Singles - $12.00 per year

    Children - $3.00 per year (18 and under)

    Family - $20.00 per year - Parents and Children

    Yearly dues are expected in October. If dues are not paid by October you may not receive the Federation news letter.

Field Trips 2023

Our Field Trips go from March through October of each year. The new year field trips will be posted no later than February of each year. -Meet and leave times identified by *, see legend at bottom of list for these times

*March 18th

* Oreana for Fossils and Apache Tears—Meet @ Walter’s Ferry Boat Ramp.

*April 22nd

*Big Egg Claim for Geodes. Meet at Gem Stop/Chevron (HWY55&95).(5644 Buntrock Rd, Marsing)

*May 20th

* Rockville (morning), Maple Ridge (afternoon) - Leaf Fossils and Petrified Wood Meet at Chevron-Hwy 55/95 Junction (5644 Buntrock Rd, Marsing)

**June 24th

** Pink Plume Claim—Pink Plume Agate Meet at Owyhee Junction Hwy 201 and Owyhee Ave (2499 OR-201, Nyssa, OR)

**July 22nd

** Wagon Town—Bog Wood Meet at Chevron-Hwy 55/95 Junction (5644 Buntrock Rd, Marsing)

**Aug 19th

** Graveyard Point– Agate and Jasper Meet at Chevron-Hwy 55/95 Junction (5644 Buntrock Rd, Marsing)

* Blue Egg Club Claim for Blue Opal Thunder Eggs. Meet @ Homedale Park by the Tank (just east of four corners) (E Idaho Ave and S 2nd St E).

*Bruneau Wood Pile—Petrified Wood and Pine Cones Meet at Walter’s Ferry Boat Ramp, Melba

USEFUL ITEMS TO BRING ON A FIELD TRIP

Buckets, Shovel, Rock Hammer, Pick (Large and Small), Sieve, Gloves, Spray Bottle for Water, Small Scrub Brush, Knee Pads, Magnifier, Plenty of Drinking Water, Food, Appropriate Clothing, Protective Eyewear, Day Pack or Back Pack, Umbrella, Pry Bar, Tick Spray, First Aid Kit, Protective clothing and sunscreen to avoid sun burns. Shovel and fire extinguisher to put out any fires that may start.

Trips can last most of the day.

Generally, a High-Clearance Vehicle and sometimes 4WD or an ATV is required.

Please remember to not park on tall grass or sagebrush as the fire season is in full swing and watch out for snakes.

Pack out what you pack in and pick up all litter.

When you are finished, fill in all holes that are dug at the site.
